Pemberton Valley

The glacier carved valleys in Pemberton are a great source of locally grown produce for the residents of the Sea to Sky region.  This scene taken from the paraglider launch near the Hurley forest service road offers a mix of foreground colors against the Meager Volcanic Complex at the end of the valley.

Fall in Pemberton

This area near the Hurley forest service road is a great source of fall colors with beautiful backdrops.  The Lillooet river can be seen winding it's way down the valley floor.

Red Maple

The third piece in this series from the Hurley forest service road features a rare source of red in the Coast Mountain Range.  Having found inspiration from A. Y. Jackson, a Group of Seven painter, this piece is an homage to his body of work and specifically, The Red Maple.

Crater Rim Forest

Beautiful sunlight filtering through the dense canopy and lighting up the mossy forest floor can be seen on the Crater Rim Trail.  This ancient volcanic crater is not far from the athlete's village at the south end of Whistler.

Pacific Tide

The swirling waves splashing against the black rock in Ucluelet is something you can stare at for hours, with unique patterns never repeating.  You can find many of these views along the Wild Pacific Trail.

Chesterman Beach

The combination of temperate rain forest, glaciated mountains and ocean waves is what makes the west coast of Vancouver Island special.  At low tide, this is the view from Frank Island looking back to Chesterman Beach.

Sunset on Garibaldi

Across the Sea to Sky valley, the light turned magical for a brief moment before sunset on an otherwise cloudy day.  As seen here under alpenglow, Mount Garibaldi is one of the most recognized peaks in the South Coast region, as well as British Columbia's best known volcano.

Fall at Alta Lake

During the warm summer months, most everyone in the town of Whistler will at some point find themselves basking in the sun or going for a swim at Rainbow Park on Alta Lake.  A great place to appreciate the beauty of the local mountains, this late fall scene is a reminder of the snow season that is not far away.

Sunset at Seton Lake

Off the Duffy Lake Road as you approach Lillooet is Seton Lake.  Its deep turquoise water is surrounded by majestic mountains which reflect the drier landscape you will find as you move further away from the coast into the interior.

Daisy Lake

The Daisy Lake dam, which can be seen from the sea to sky highway, dramatically alters the landscape by changing the lake's water level.  I was able to capture this scene under sunset conditions, bringing out the warm colors and providing a nice contemporary feel.

Wild Pacific Trail

Not far from the lighthouse in Ucluelet on the west coast of Vancouver Island is where you will find this amazing coastline.  The Wild Pacific Trail offers endless lookouts and views of  the Pacific Ocean and its rugged shoreline.

Black Tusk Clouds

A feature of the coastal mountains is the amount of precipitation they receive.  Often after a storm the first sight to reappear above the clouds is the Black Tusk, as seen here from the top of Whistler Mountain.

7th Heaven

Pure joy is one way of describing skiing fresh powder on a blue bird day.  This is the view from Blackcomb's 7th Heaven alpine meadows with Whistler Mountain in the background.

Sunset at Tofino

Tofino is where I have enjoyed some of the longest sunsets.  These last rays of the day here were captured on Chesterman Beach.

Sunset on Howe Sound

Few places in the world can offer the right mix of forests, ocean, mountains and sky.  Howe Sound between Vancouver and Whistler is one of those places.

Black Tusk Approach

On a warm summer day in the alpine, the streaks of melting snow against volcanic rock provided beautiful contrasts and textures as I approached the Black Tusk.

High Note

As you walk with the warm summer sun on a south facing slope, this is just one example of the many breathtaking views on the new hiking trail that starts from the peak of Whistler mountain.

Secret Stream

Soon after I first moved to Whistler, I began discovering my new surroundings.  Somewhere on the Flank Trail starting from Function Junction, you will find this secret stream just as I did.

Soo Valley

As the first snowfall of the 2006-2007 season began to pull away from the mountains, I found myself in the Soo Valley witnessing the winter weather transitions first hand.

Sunset at Khyber

As much as I expected the new growth trees on Whistler mid mountain to catch the light at sunset, the clouds that appeared at that moment were a complete surprise that left me truly amazed.

Black Tusk Pines

On Empetrum Ridge is where you will find the Black Tusk standing in full view for you to appreciate its true volcanic origins.

Helm Glacier I

In the alpine meadows near Black Tusk, one of the beautiful views is of Helm Glacier with the lava spine of Castle Towers Mountain in the distance.

Black Tusk I

This black and white work is a stark reminder of the ominous lava dome and flow that forms the Black Tusk as we know it.  To the indigenous people, it is known as the "Landing Place of the Thunderbird", the rock being blackened by the Thunderbird's lightening.

Wedge Mountain

Rising above all other peaks in Garibaldi Provincial Park is Wedge Mountain.  Its presence greets valley residents from Function Junction to Emerald Estates and is one of the more recognizable peaks in the Whistler Valley.

Helm Glacier II

Once again the backcountry of Garibaldi Provincial Park provides beautiful foreground views with Castle Towers Mountain and Helm Glacier as a backdrop.

Cheakamus Forest

The combination of light filtering through the forest canopy and its rays striking the forest floor near Cheakamus Lake illustrates the sense of depth and peacefulness one often finds in the coastal rainforests of British Columbia.

Fall at Mamquam River

The search for fall colors finally met with success as I found myself far up the Mamquam River outside of Squamish.  Time once again was of the essence.  As the evening began to cast its shadow over the rocks and water it provided a nice contrast with the leaves glowing in the sunset.

Golden Pond

This scene was taken during the last few minutes of sunlight on a cold January day in the Gatineau Park near Ottawa, Ontario.

Minas Basin Harbour

This setting is near the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia where the mighty tides can reach 50-60 feet in the tidal basins of the area.  Remnants of an old pier dot the late autumn farmland that makes up this beautiful countryside.

Afternoon at Hell's Point

The south shore of Nova Scotia near Lunenburg offers incredible rock formations and colors overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Sunset at Hell's Point

The sunsets on the south shore of Nova Scotia have a special way of lighting up the textured rock with warm glows against an ocean backdrop.

Sunset at Kingsburg

This gorgeous wave is able to catch the last light rays of the day before colliding with the south shore of Nova Scotia.
